Fashion Media and Marketing.

After a long long while, I am back with a long overdue post.
I have just moved away to university to study a BA (Hons) Fashion Media and Marketing and it was my first proper day today. And, as the course title suggests, it is heavily weighted by all aspects of media, obviously including blogging. So I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to really get back into blogging again.
Today our first mini assignment was, I guess, to kind of get to know everyone's capability for styling and pretty much an ice-breaker. We were asked to get into small groups of 3-4 and grab some clothing pieces, accessories and shoes and create an outfit. We pretty much had free reign here. Naturally I jumped at the first faux fur thing I saw on the rail as I thought this would be a great base to work around. I then went with a very feminine, double-breasted, patterned, satin shirt to layer underneath. I grabbed a couple of belts which I thought would look great wound together and sinched around the waist. We then picked out these black, high-waisted, shorts and some amazing black leather lace-up shoes. One of the girls put on the top and shorts and then we worked in the belts adding in a couple more just to really make a real statement with them and transition them into acting as one piece. Unfortunately the faux fur garment that we had chosen was a pretty unwearable, art style piece as it had no arm holes, so, we decided that we could just drape it over the shoulders. I thought the look worked really well as an ansamble. But I did feel like there was something missing to tie it all together. So I grabbed my own sunglasses which had a slight yellow, iridescence to the lenses which paired really well, but subtly with the yellow belt and really pulled all the elements of the outfit together.
We then photographed this complete 'get-up' in front of any thing we could find within the floor of the building we were on.
Here is the finished look...
We were pretty pleased with it. It is far from perfect but I thought it was a pretty good start going in blind.
We then had to present to the rest of the class and explain our thoughts behind the pieces that we had put together. Here are some of the outfits that were put together by others in the group...
#1 Parisian Chic with statement red braces
#2 English Country and City collab
#3 Layered Leathers
#4 'All tied up'
#5 A take on the Jay-Z Kanye style mixed with 'ninja'
#6 Retro glam - pretty in pink

Everyone did so well and you can tell everyone had a really good eye for layering, colour, shape and detail, this was really refreshing for me to be in a room full of people who share the same passion for this kind of thing as I do!
It was a really fun little taster into the start of the course, for sure!
